One way to describe a positive disposition is to possess an inherent tendency to reinforce the expectation of better outcomes, or to possess a knack for personal or self-motivation, lending credence to the truism that all motivation is either internally generated or externally inspired.

If fulfilment is your priority, a positive disposition or outlook is a necessity. Because a positive disposition fuels the realisation of dreams and the attainment of milestones. A Positive disposition also enhances expectations, fuels pursuits and pushes one beyond known limits, helping you stretch mentally and physiologically.

Remember, in life, you have the power to choose your disposition. You can choose optimism, which is a positive disposition, or you can opt for realism, which is a near-neutral disposition. You can also lean towards pessimism, which some might recognise as a negative disposition. These mental predispositions are shaped or informed by several factors, including environmental, relational, and situational preconditioning. Several other realities also influence these dispositions.

A positive disposition is one of the greatest gifts you will give yourself, because your daily routine exposes you to people, situations, experiences, and occurrences that may dampen, sap, or fluctuate your mental strength. Yes, a positive mindset alone might not be the only requirement for moderating, facilitating, or sustaining an ideal environment for fulfilment. But without a positive disposition, you unknowingly self-sabotage and shortchange yourself.

Attaining fulfilment on a significant scale requires resilience, hope, faith, pragmatism, and a never-say-die attitude. These qualities are the backbone of a positive disposition. In today’s world, where negative feedback is abundant and harmful exposure is increasingly difficult to filter, it’s easy to succumb to either realism or pessimism. But this is where the deliberate pursuit and sustenance of a positive disposition become crucial.

It is therefore important to accept responsibility for your disposition. Identify the people, places, events, and occurrences that can boost your motivation, such as supportive friends, inspiring books, uplifting music, or engaging in activities you love, and make a conscious effort to expose yourself to them. And when you’re feeling low, don’t hesitate to reach out to people who can lift your spirits.  Positive Disposition entails accepting responsibility for your well-being and welfare, believing in yourself and in your dream, appreciating your capability, and pushing beyond your comfort zone by setting goals that raise the bar. A positive disposition also entails believing in humanity, communicating, and managing your expectations of others; it also involves entertaining long-term, holistic considerations that birth opportunities that better serve the interests of your community.
