The Pathway to Fulfilment

Fulfilment is the expression of a person’s overall essence, as defined by the intricate interactions of their consciousness, informed considerations, inspirations and aspirations.

Five elements characterise fulfilment. Knowingly or unknowingly, these five elements were mastered by every great man or woman who ever lived. Mastering these five elements will make you great, too. They are Self-Awareness, Self-Evaluation, Self-Motivation, Self-Development, and Self-Actualisation. These elements are not isolated, but interconnected, forming a holistic approach to personal development.

Although the five elements may not occur in any particular order, each must ultimately play out in your life if fulfilment is your desire. Regarding fulfilment, you must first discover yourself, comfortable or not; you must come to grips with your personality and style. The ‘know thyself state’ is the primary and foremost step toward fulfilment because it empowers you with the knowledge of your potential and worthwhile challenges.

At the level of self-evaluation, there is a conscious effort to establish foundational and fundamental facts. Here, you examine performance, consider potential, and utilise opportunities. You also outline dreams, visions, and expectations, gauge progress, and notice and expunge lapses. Self-evaluation is the rung of reckoning, and it precedes self-motivation.

Self-motivation is the bridge between self-evaluation and self-development. The third element typifies the internal drive for greater heights and ensures you maintain the right frame of mind and psyche for fulfilment. It is here that you learn to stay motivated and become internally driven.

Moving an element further, self-motivation culminates in self-development, where you strive towards becoming better; you strategise and prioritise, maybe get a degree, get a better job, get married or move to a new neighbourhood- you do something to get closer to the picture of you in your mind’s eye. Self-development entails adequate preparation for adding value to oneself and others. It involves enhancing your competence in line with your desired goals. Self-development doesn’t just bolster preparation; it insists on achievement and actualisation.

Self-actualisation, the final element, is the pinnacle of personal fulfilment. It portrays the attitude of fulfilment and reveals the character of all-around advancement. It is an exposé on fulfilment and amplifies the need to share your success with others by building new leaders and helping others fulfil their dreams. At the level of self-actualisation, you predominantly make sacrifices for the benefit of others as you transfer your unction. You also get to bask in the euphoria of your achievements and reminisce on the journey by examining your scorecard. Moreover, you review your stance, decisions, challenges and the negotiations that brought you that far.
