Fulfilment is the awareness, pursuit, and realisation of your essence as described by conscious and subconscious interactions of your inspirations, and aspirations.
To a large extent, personal fulfilment is greatly influenced by who a person becomes in the quest for fulfilment and not necessarily by what they can achieve.
My observations and conclusions regarding people in their search and pursuit of essence is that there is a pressure to meet up and keep pace with certain yardsticks or benchmarks which in most cases are unrealistic, unattainable or unimportant. And because many people underestimate their privileges and graces, they tend to magnify their limitations, exceptions and insufficiency. Such that in most cases the weight of disappointment is laden with the leads of misplaced and mis prioritised pursuits.
Many may therefore be looking for something that is not missing, You know how it is when you are looking for the pen you carefreely stuck in your hair. You frantically search your desk, gloss over the floor, slap against your pocket, but you will not find the pen there. Because it’s not in all those places. That’s how most of us search for essence and validation in all the wrong places. And in the end, we get disappointed, anxious and depressed because we either searching for something that was never lost or we are searching for something that is truly missing but we are looking in all the wrong places.
Kindly bear in mind that the expression of your fulfilment is multifaceted. This is so because fulfilment manifest in the broad spectra of sense and is the sum effect of numerous such influences as leadership, work, time management, human capacity development or continuous learning, money, tenacity, managing expectations, professionalism, momentum (Compounding), networking/relationships, parenting, friendship, rest, play(Relaxation), change management, potential, purpose, relationship management, boundaries.
And since every one of these subject matters are important, I suggest we dedicate a considerable amount of time to ponder on how these factors affect and influence the pursuit of fulfilment. As the days go by, we will together entertain and review these influences, I will show up as long as you scroll by. I anticipate your input as nobody is an island of knowledge. We can dedicate a few minutes every week to any specific facet of fulfilment. You tell me.
Though prolonged and protracted, lets sojourn into the endless possibilities that fulfilment represents. And lest keep it as interactive and engaging as can be. In that you get to determine what subtitle you wish I attend to. So, you let me know what concerns preoccupies your front burner, and I would drop a few hints in that regard. And for those who prefer to watch a short podcast or reel to having to read an article. No promises, but I will try to attend to your needs as well. And subject myself to the ring lights and cameras that your request will demand. So happy company to us in the weeks and months unfolding. I hope I am not starting what I cannot finish? Anyways, let’s see how it goes.
Nice, this is my little take though, one can’t find fulfillment out side GOD, regardless of whatever one has achieved,or he /she achievements are.
Finding fulfillment out side GOD is just like leaving day to day life without destination.
Dear Alabi, reading through your reflections on fulfilment truly resonated with me. It’s easy to get caught up in the idea that fulfilment is something we must attain, like a checklist of accomplishments or societal benchmarks. But what you highlighted, how the pursuit is more about the person we become rather than what we achieve, feels like an eye-opening truth. I’ve often found myself feeling like I’m not enough simply because I didn’t meet certain expectations, whether they were set by others or by my internal drive.
Your analogy about searching for the pen stuck in your hair hit home for me. So many times, I’ve caught myself chasing validation, success, or a sense of purpose in places or ways that didn’t align with who I truly am. It’s as though the answers were always within reach, but I was looking in all the wrong places. What you’ve brought to light is the importance of pausing and truly reflecting on our values, strengths, and aspirations, rather than blindly striving to meet external standards.
I also appreciate your emphasis on the multifaceted nature of fulfilment. Life is not just about work or personal growth, but a balance of various factors, relationships, rest, personal development, boundaries, and more. For me, this broadens the definition of success, showing that fulfilment can be found in the little things as much as the big achievements.
I’m so happy for the discussions ahead, especially since the path to fulfilment is unique for everyone. The idea of diving deeper into each aspect in future articles or podcasts is a fantastic way to keep the conversation fresh and relevant. Looking forward to reading more!
Thank you Osisieneto. I believe fulfillment Is a personal journey embedded in one’s life goal / mission. You broke them in fragments of topics. I’m interested in you shedding light on the marital and career fulfilment with relation to societal pressures and norms (Nigerian context).
Welldone sir.
A very good right up. Alabi has truly given a succinct explanation to what every being has continuously searched for over years of existence.
Looking forward to reading more from you.
This is quite insightful and educative.
It navigate one’s mind” to the process of finding direction and purpose in life, much like using a physical compass for navigation. Seeking a “true compass” involves identifying one’s core values, goals, and interests to guide personal decisions and actions toward fulfilling one’s destiny.
This internal compass helps individuals make choices aligned with their purpose and navigate life’s challenges with a sense of direction.
A person’s mindset is the lens through which they see and interpret the world.
It influences their beliefs, thoughts, and actions, shaping their approach to life and their journey towards fulfilling destiny.
Imagine someone wants to become a successful entrepreneur.
Their internal compass might guide them towards pursuing their passion for innovation, developing valuable skills, and building a network of supportive mentors.
This internal compass helps them navigate the challenges and uncertainties of the entrepreneurial journey.
But the question now is what do you do when you have clarity of vision, mapped out your mission and purpose in your journey to success and it seems there are no breakthroughs?
May be due to lack of resources, environmental barriers, inferioty complex issues or forces you can’t even figure out to have been responsible or contributed to limiting you?
Weldone, nice
A thoughtful and insightful read. Thank you for sharing these perspectives.
Wow!
Thank you for sharing this nugget as a reminder of what true Fulfillment entails. One lesson I took from it is that true and sustainable fulfillment is innate and I don’t need to seek validation in all the wrong places.
